Early morning on September 27, I was on my way to shoot rowing in Welland. I could not keep my eyes off the sun rising and the fog creeping over the grass, not very smart when you're driving. Eyes on the road! I ended up on the wrong side of the canal, which luckily gave me an excuse to pull over and catch the sun rising, by the old train lift bridge over the Welland Canal.
I grabbed some shots, this one being my favourite and headed on my way down the road where I ended up at the docks where I got this shot. Loved the fog!
I did eventually make it to the right place, shooting rowing in the scorching hot sun! Having taken these shots in the morning and then shooting rowing all day, I wasn't quite ready to put my camera down just yet, well just briefly while I drove to my next location. "La Grande Hermine" (The Big Weasel) or 'The Pirate Ship' as myself and most others call it! It sits in the Jordan Harbour and can been seen from the QEW. The amount of times I have driven past this ship is absurd - I went to school in St. Catharines, #BadgerPride - and yet this was only the second time I have been there. I had my tripod with me and set up with my remote shutter. Here's my favourite shot:
Spinning around, I wanted to capture the moon and car light trails on the QEW before I myself was back on there, here's what I came out with:
It was an inspiring day for me and I am very proud of these photos, I hope I can have more days like this!
Enjoy!
